How to Understand the Core Configurations of a Hook-Type Shot Blasting Machine?

When purchasing a hook-type shot blasting machine, the quotation often contains a large number of technical terms and parameters, which can be overwhelming for many customers. In fact, the quality of a shot blasting machine does not depend on flashy data, but rather on a few core configurations. Understanding these will allow you to distinguish the true level of the equipment, avoid being misled by superficial low prices, and ensure a clear and confident purchase.

1. Shot Blasting Wheel

As the core component of the shot blasting machine, the shot blasting wheel determines the equipment's cleaning efficiency and processing effect. To evaluate its quality, first consider the quantity and power: more wheels and higher power result in greater cleaning efficiency, though costs will increase accordingly. Next, look at the shot flow rate and throwing speed: higher values for both indicate a greater processing capacity per unit of time and better cleaning results. Even more critical is the material of the blades. High-chrome wear-resistant cast iron blades offer a significantly longer service life than ordinary cast iron. Although the initial cost is slightly higher, the lower replacement frequency results in lower overall maintenance costs in the long run. Additionally, opting for motors from well-known brands ensures stable operation and more reliable after-sales service.

2. Liner Plates

The liner plates inside the shot blasting chamber must withstand the continuous impact of high-speed abrasives. Their material and thickness directly determine the overall service life of the hook-type shot blasting machine. Focus on the following three points when selecting: use Mn13 wear-resistant steel for liner plates in high-wear areas (hot zones), ensure the liner plate thickness is no less than 10 mm, and opt for a lap-joint installation method. If the shot blasting machine you are evaluating fails to meet any of these three criteria, it cannot be considered a qualified and high-quality unit.

3. Separator

The core function of the separator is to separate abrasive media from contaminants. When making a selection, prioritize the combination of a "rotary drum screen + air-wash separation." This multi-stage separation technology can achieve separation efficiency exceeding 99.9%, effectively removing broken shot and dust while allowing usable abrasive to be recycled.

4. Dust Collection System

As environmental protection requirements become increasingly stringent, the configuration of the dust collection system will determine whether the shot blasting machine you purchase can pass environmental impact assessments. The current mainstream configuration is the two-stage dust collection combination of a "settling chamber + pulse-jet baghouse filter." This combination can control dust emission concentration within the limits set by environmental standards. If the dust collection system is underspecified, you may need to invest additional funds later to upgrade it, which would be counterproductive.

5. Electrical Control

When selecting the electrical control system, first look at the brand of the PLC and inverter. Well-known brands, such as Mitsubishi, offer high product stability and low operational failure rates, making them a preferred choice. Next, check the brands of low-voltage electrical components, such as contactors and relays. These should also be from mainstream brands like CHINT or Delixi, avoiding the safety hazards associated with unbranded components.

A machine truly worth purchasing may not be the cheapest on the quotation, but it will certainly have substantial investment in core areas such as the shot blasting wheel, liner plates, separator, dust collection system, and electrical control. When purchasing, compare quotations from different manufacturers item by item, and you will find that the hidden differences are precisely what determine the future operating costs and service life of the shot blasting machine.
